Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor Billy Crudup is set to make his West End debut.

Known for his role in The Morning Show and a 2024 Golden Globe nominee, Billy Crudup will star in the UK premiere of David Cale’s critically acclaimed one-man play, Harry Clarke.

The production, directed by Tony Award nominee Leigh Silverman, will open at the Ambassadors Theatre on 13 March 2024, with previews from 9 March, running until 11 May 2024. Tickets are on sale now.

Billy Crudup said: “I love London and I have loved seeing theater in London for decades. West End theater-goers are some of the most discerning, intelligent and hungry audiences in the world. I’m grateful to be given the opportunity to share the work Leigh, David, myself and all our producers have created on the London stage.”

The play, which had its world premiere at the Vineyard Theatre in New York in 2017, has seen Crudup win numerous awards for his performance, including the Outer Critics Circle Award and the Obie Award. He also received a Drama League Award nomination for the role, which he reprised in a sell-out West Coast premiere at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2023.

Harry Clarke follows the story of Philip Brugglestein, a Midwestern man who reinvents himself as the charming and seductive Londoner Harry Clarke, leading to a thrilling double life. The play draws comparisons to The Talented Mr. Ripley and features an impressive 19 characters portrayed by Crudup in an 80-minute tour-de-force performance.

The production team for Harry Clarke includes Alexander Dodge for scenic design, Kaye Voyce for costume design, Alan C. Edwards for lighting design, Bart Fasbender for sound design, original songs by David Cale, and vocal coaching by Deborah Lapidus. Dialect coaches Deborah Hecht and Jessica Berman also contribute to the play’s authentic presentation.
