Back to Back Theatre to bring The Shadow Whose Prey the Hunter Becomes to Battersea Arts Centre this October

Back to Back Theatre are to bring The Shadow Whose Prey the Hunter Becomes to Battersea Arts Centre this October.

The London venue will play host to the production from the Australian company from 19 – 22 October 2022.

BAC are collaborating with Leeds Playhouse and Brighton’s Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts who will also host the show as part of a UK tour until November.

The Shadow Whose Prey the Hunter Becomes celebrates our civil and social progress via a story of great sadness but ultimately, of hope. Weaving a narrative through human rights, sexual politics and the projected dominance of artificial intelligence, The Shadow Whose Prey the Hunter Becomes is a sly theatrical revelation inspired by mistakes, mis-readings, mis-leadings and misunderstandings.

Based around a public meeting, the performance asks the question: How do we come together to make decisions that are in the best interest of a civic society? The Shadow Whose Prey the Hunter Becomes is a reminder that none of us are self-sufficient and all of us are ultimately responsible.

The current recipients of the prestigious Ibsen Award in Oslo, Back to Back Theatre is driven by an ensemble who are perceived to have learning disabilities and are considered one of Australia’s most important cultural exports. The company creates new forms of contemporary performance imagined from the minds and experiences of a unique ensemble of actors with a disability – giving voice to social and political issues that speak to everyone.
