First look: Cabaret and Disney’s Newsies at 2022 Royal Variety Performance

Here’s a first look at Cabaret and Disney’s Newsies as they take to the stage at this year’s Royal Variety Performance.

Lee Mack hosts this year’s show which took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London in the presence of members of the Royal Family on 1 December. It will air on ITV1 on Tuesday, 20 December at 8PM.

The 2022 show will be a very special celebration to honour Queen Elizabeth II’s long association with The Royal Variety Performance.

Together with the casts of Cabaret and Disney’s Newsies, other highlights will include Andrew Lloyd Webber, Gary Barlow and Gareth Malone accompanied by members of the London Youth Choir, perform a very special version of ‘Sing’.

Other music performances come from Nile Rodgers & Chic, George Ezra, Ellie Goulding, Eurovision star Sam Ryder and Becky Hill.

Plus, Rita Wilson and Gregory Porter will perform a stunning duet while Frank Skinner, David Baddiel and The Lightning Seeds will share a very special rendition of their hit Three Lions.

There will also be performances from Cirque Du Soleil, German duo The Ehrlich Brothers, soprano Fatma Said, Giffords Circus, Al Murray – The Pub Landlord, Maisie Adam, Omid Djalili and this year’s Britain’s Got Talent winner Axel Blake.

Lee Mack said: “I was actually going to buy tickets for this year’s Royal Variety Performance, so not only is it a real honour to be asked to host it, it’s also saved me a few quid. I now just have to work out the logistics of introducing these brilliant acts and also rushing back to my seat to watch them.”
