Florence Howard’s Agatha to make world premiere at Theatre503

Florence Howard’s Agatha is to make its world premiere at Theatre503 in London this summer.

Written by and co-starring debut playwright Florence Howard, Agatha will run from 27 June – 15 July 2023.

Agatha is described as “an imperfect love story about a young couple ripped apart by the two people who most want it to work.”

Aggy does not want kids. It’s not a big deal but she absolutely does not want them. Ben’s never really thought about it but actually, now you mention it, he would quite like them. None of this matters though because what they really want is each other.. right?

Florence Howard, who plays Aggy, said: “I am not sure why when a woman gets to a certain age it is of insane fascination whether they will be having children or not. Is it really that interesting? Judging by how many people ask me this question I am guessing the answer is yes. I was provoked to write Agatha by frequently facing this line of questioning.

“In doing so, I found that the answers for not wanting children could be compelling and nuanced, and started to explore how a relationship survives when the two people in it want different things.”

Also on the cast are Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge as Ben and Emily Mytton as Lena.

Directed by George Chilcott, the production has set and costume design by Carly Brownbridge, sound design and composition by Russell Ditchfield, lighting design by Chuma Emembolu, movement direction by Lucy Cullingford and casting by Nadine Rennie. It is produced by Gabriella Sills. .
