Jagged Little Pill musical rights acquired by Concord Theatricals

Concord Theatricals has secured exclusive worldwide stage licensing rights to Jagged Little Pill: The Musical.

Alanis Morissette, Glen Ballard and Diablo Cody’s acclaimed show opened on Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre in 2019 following a world premiere at American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) in Cambridge, MA.

Glen Ballard, who is also represented by Concord Music Publishing, said: “We are excited that Concord Theatricals is taking Jagged Little Pill to so many stages! Fueled by Morissette’s groundbreaking lyrics and iconic music, which includes cherished hits like You Oughta Know and Head Over Feet, the musical delves into the life of a seemingly perfect suburban family, where appearances can be deceiving. As the fractures beneath their idyllic facade begin to surface, they must grapple with the choice of preserving the status quo or confronting harsh realities about themselves, their community, and the world around them. The book, crafted by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody, draws inspiration from the raw emotions that Morissette laid bare in her Grammy Award-winning 1995 album of the same name.

Directed by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus and featuring choreography by Tony Award-nominee Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, known for collaborations with Beyoncé, and guided by the musical supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements of Grammy, Tony, and Pulitzer Prize-winner Tom Kitt, the Broadway production of Jagged Little Pill earned a staggering 15 Tony Award nominations, with Diablo Cody clinching the award for Best Book of a Musical. The production was brought to life by producers Vivek J. Tiwary, Arvind Ethan David, and Eva Price.
