& Juliet musical cancels latest performance due to cast illness

& Juliet musical’s latest evening performance (Thursday March 12) has been cancelled.

The second of today’s scheduled performances will not go ahead due to cast illness, a statement has revealed.

Producers said: “Following this afternoon’s matinee of & Juliet, three cast members no longer feel well enough to perform again today. In a week with an unusually high level of injured dancers and cast holidays, this leaves us with too few performers to run tonight’s show. We have therefore had to take the decision to cancel this evening’s performance.

“We fully expect tomorrow’s show to continue as scheduled and will update further in due course.

“We apologise to patrons of this evening’s performance for any inconvenience caused and advise that they should contact their point of purchase to exchange or refund their tickets.”

Currently playing at the Shaftesbury Theatre, & Juliet is described as an “irreverent and fun-loving” musical that retells the classic story of Romeo and Juliet by asking: what if Juliet’s famous ending was really just her beginning?

A play within a play, & Juliet follows Shakespeare and his wife Anne as they rewrite and act out a revised version of his tragedy.

The production was recently nominated for nine Olivier Awards including Best New Musical.
