New musical Shucked to open in London’s West End in 2024

New musical Shucked is officially coming to the West End!

The show, with a book by Robert Horn (Tootsie, 13) and songs by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, is currently playing at the Nederlander in New York.

A West End production will open in 2024, produced by Cameron Mackintosh.

A theatre, dates and further details are to be announced.

Mackintosh said: “I’m delighted to confirm that London is going to get Shucked in one of my theatres next year! Shucked is that rarity: a completely original musical and the funniest show since The Book of Mormon, with a terrifically tuneful rollicking country and western score.

“It’s snuck up on Broadway and is proving to be the most talked about hit of the season. The corn at the heart of Shucked will have you husky with limitless laughter!”

What do you get when you pair a semi-neurotic, New York comedy writer with two music superstars from Nashville? A hilarious and audacious farm-to-fable musical about the one thing Americans everywhere can’t get enough of: corn.

An original cast recording of the musical was previously released in May.

Jack O’Brien directs the production with choreographer Sarah O’Gleby, music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Jason Howland, scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Tilly Grimes, lighting designer Japhy Weideman, sound designer John Shivers and hair and wig designer Mia Neal. Casting is by C12 Casting Stephen Kopel, CSA.
