Pinocchio Disney+ UK release date, cast and first look trailer for new film

A new live action retelling of Pinocchio is on its way to Disney+, here’s all you need to know!

Academy Award winner Robert Zemeckis directs a new reimagining of the classic tale with an all star cast.

Pinocchio is the story of a wooden puppet who embarks on a thrilling adventure to become a real boy.

Who’s on the cast?

Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, the wood carver who builds and treats Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his own son.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Jiminy Cricket, who serves as Pinocchio’s guide as well as his “conscience”; Academy Award nominee and West End star Cynthia Erivo is the Blue Fairy; Keegan-Michael Key is “Honest” John; Academy Award nominee Lorraine Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, a new character, and Luke Evans is The Coachman.

Also in the cast are Kyanne Lamaya as Fabiana (and her marionette Sabina), Giuseppe Battiston as Señor Stromboli and Lewin Lloyd as Lampwick.

Pinocchio Disney+ release date

The movie will debut on Disney+ in the UK on 8 September 2022.

Pinocchio is the latest live-action adaption of a classic animated Disney movie.

Following in the footsteps of The Jungle Book, Aladdin, The Lion King and Mulan, next year will see a live-action adaption of The Little Mermaid while a new Snow White film is also in the works, starring West Side Story’s Rachel Zegler in the title role.

Meanwhile it was recently announced that Jude Law is to star in a live action Peter Pan movie, also coming to Disney+.
