Marking its 30th anniversary, New Adventures revives Matthew Bourne’s iconic Swan Lake with a tour across the UK in 2024-25.
Renowned for its innovative and audacious approach, the production remains a landmark in the genre. It gained particular acclaim for its groundbreaking choice to cast a male ensemble in place of the traditional female corps-de-ballet, a move that dramatically altered the landscape of contemporary dance.
Debuting at Sadler’s Wells in London in 1995, Bourne’s interpretation of Swan Lake swiftly captivated the dance theatre scene. It achieved remarkable success, holding records for the longest run of a full-length dance piece in both the West End and on Broadway. The production has been showcased worldwide, earning over thirty international awards, including the Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production and three Tony Awards encompassing Best Director of a Musical, Best Choreography, and Best Costume Design.
