After more than 30 years running in the West End, The Woman in Black is hitting the road for a new UK tour in 2023 and 2024.

Stephen Mallatratt’s adaptation of Susan Hill’s best-selling novel tells the story of a lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over his family by the spectre of a ‘Woman in Black’.

Following the production’s final performance in March, The Woman in Black will embark on a UK Tour opening at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre in September 2023.

A lawyer obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black, engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul. It all begins innocently enough, but then, as they reach further into his darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds.

Who’s on the cast?

The two-hander will feature Malcolm James as Arthur Kipps and Mark Hawkins as The Actor. Jon de Ville will serve as understudy for Arthur Kipps and Dominic Price is understudy for The Actor.

The Woman in Black is directed by Robin Herford, with designs by Michael Holt and lighting by Kevin Sleep. Casting for the tour is to be confirmed.

The Woman in Black first debuted in 1987 at a pub in Scarborough before heading to London in 1989 where its 34 year run was only ever paused during the pandemic.
