Musical extravaganza The Choir of Man has arrived on the West End run – here’s all you need to know!
Described as “the best night in your local you’ve ever had”, the pub themed music experience returned to the Arts Theatre in October 2022.
The current company features Michael Baxter as The Maestro, Ben Norris as The Poet, Levi Tyrell-Johnson, as The Hardman, Owen Bolton as The Beast, Jordan Oliver as The Handyman, Lemuel Knights as The Barman, Matt Beveridge as The Romantic, Matt Nalton as The Pub Bore and Matt Thorpe as The Joker.
Completing the company are Mark Irwin, Sam Ebenezer, Gavin Ryan and Lucas Koch.
The Choir of Man is the best trip to your local you’ll ever have, featuring amazing reinventions of folk, pop, Broadway and rock chart-toppers from artists including Guns ‘N’ Roses, Fun!, Adele, Avicii, Paul Simon, Sia and many more. It’s a party, it’s a concert and it’s a lock-in like no other.
The cast of nine multi-talented guys combine beautiful harmonies and foot-stomping singalongs with world-class tap dance and poetic meditations on the power of community. This is a riotously feel-good homage to that gathering place we’ve all missed so much over the past year: the pub, complete with a real working bar on stage.
The Choir of Man is created by Nic Doodson and Andrew Kay. Nic Doodson directs with musical arrangement and supervision from Jack Blume, choreography from Freddie Huddleston, monologues by Ben Norris, design by Oli Townsend, lighting by Richard Dinnen and costume design by Verity Sadler, sound design by Sten Severson, casting by Debbie O’Brien. Musical Direction and Associate musical supervision by Hollie Cassar and Associate Choreographer is Rachel Chapman.
