Imelda Staunton will lead a new production of Hello, Dolly! in London’s West End in 2024.
The show will run at the London Palladium from 6 July – 14 September 2024. You can sign up for a ticket pre-sale here.
Joining Imelda Staunton on the cast are Andy Nyman, Jenna Russell, Tyrone Huntley and Harry Hepple.
The revival was originally due to run at the Adelphi Theatre in 2020 before being indefinitely postponed due to the pandemic.
Dominic Cooke will direct, having previously worked with Staunton on the National Theatre’s 2017 production of Follies.
Meddlesome socialite turned matchmaker Dolly Levi travels to Yonkers, New York to find a match for the miserly, unmarried ‘half-a-millionaire’ Horace Vandergelder, but everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is for herself.
The timeless score includes ‘Put On Your Sunday Clothes’, ‘Ribbons Down My Back’, ‘Before the Parade Passes By’, ‘Elegance’, ‘It Only Takes a Moment’ and of course, ‘Hello, Dolly!’
Speaking previously about the production plans, Imelda Staunton said: “I am so excited to be working again with Dominic Cooke, Michael Harrison and David Ian, and we all can’t wait to bring Hello, Dolly! — which is a truly joyous show — back to the West End after all these years.”
Hello, Dolly! debuted on Broadway in the 1960s, featuring a book by Michael Stewart with music & lyrics by Jerry Herman.
Based on Thornton Wilder’s play The Matchmaker, the musical follows socialite-turned-matchmaker Dolly Levi in her quest to find love for those around her as well as herself.
