Winnie the Pooh musical adaptation to make UK premiere in 2023

A new musical adaptation of Disney’s Winnie the Pooh is coming to the UK in 2023!

Adapted from the Winnie the Pooh films and books by Jonathan Rockefeller (The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show, Paddington Gets in a Jam), the piece features many of the original songs written by Robert and Richard Sherman, including ‘Winnie the Pooh’, ‘The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers’ and ‘A Rather Blustery Day’.

The show will make its UK premiere at London’s Riverside Studios (Hammersmith) from 17 March, with an official opening on 26 March, to 21 May before touring.

The role of Winnie the Pooh will be played by Jake Bazel, who originated the role on Broadway. Further casting is to be announced.

Jonathan Rockefeller said: “The music, the life-size puppets, and the charming performances are the perfect way to introduce (or re-introduce) audiences to live theatre, and this is a must-see show for Winnie the Pooh fans of all ages.

“I am thrilled to be entrusted to bring this celebrated character to the stage for new audiences as they join our adventure into the Hundred Acre Wood.”

Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood, a new adventure is about to happen. Disney’s iconic Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin, and their best friends Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit, and Owl (and Tigger too!) will all finally arrive on stage in beautifully-crafted Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation.

In a new story from the Hundred Acre Wood, told with stunning life-size puppetry through the eyes of the characters we all know and love, this fresh stage adaptation features the Sherman Brothers’ classic Grammy-award-winning music with additional songs by A.A. Milne.
