Zoe Ball and Alan Carr ‘set to appear in Mamma Mia! TV talent show on ITV’

Zoe Ball and Alan Carr are reportedly set to be a part of ITV’s upcoming Mamma Mia! talent show.

Announced last year, Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream will see contestants compete for a role in hit musical Mamma Mia!

The new show will search for two new performers to play the roles of Sophie and Sky in Mamma Mia! in London’s West End.

Although further details on the show are to be officially confirmed, it’s claimed Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball is lined up to host.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Producers believe Zoe is the ideal star to launch this exciting new series. She’s an Abba expert. And the band like her so the union works really well. Zoe’s excited.”

Meanwhile comedian Alan Carr has been tipped to be one of the judges.

Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream will come to ITV1 and ITVX soon, following contestants as they compete to land the starring West End roles.

The competition will end with a live final from a venue in the heart of London’s theatreland.

The smash hit show recently celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Novello Theatre having first premiered in 1999.

The new show is the latest in a long-line of musical theatre talent competitions. Past programmes have included Any Dream Will Do, How do you Solve a Problem like Maria?, I’d Do Anything, Over the Rainbow and Let It Shine on BBC One and Superstar and Grease Is the Word on ITV – which was also hosted by Ball.
