£20 tickets announced for Kenneth Branagh’s King Lear in West End

A number of discount ticket schemes have been announced for the upcoming production of King Lear in the West End.

Kenneth Branagh is to direct and star in Shakespeare’s classic, running at Wyndham’s Theatre for 50 performances only from 21 October 2023.

Producers Fiery Angel and The Shed have today announced a trio of schemes offering £20 tickets to performances.

First, there will be a weekly online lottery with 14 tickets per performance in the front row of the stalls made available each week. The lottery opens at 00:01am on Thursdays and close at 10am on the following Wednesday, starting from Thursday 12 October.

There will also be day seats: Additional seats in the front row of the Stalls, plus standing tickets located at the back of the Stalls will be released online at 10:30am on the morning of each performance day for any performances taking place that day.

Finally, Standing tickets in the Grand Circle will be released online each Wednesday, following the weekly lottery draw, for the following week’s performances.

Joining Branagh on the cast of the new production are Mara Allen as Curan, Deborah Alli as Goneril, Raymond Anum as Burgundy, Melanie-Joyce Bermudez as Regan, Doug Colling as Edgar, Dylan Corbett-Bader as France, Eleanor de Rohan as Kent, Chloe Fenwick-Brown as Oswald, Joseph Kloska as Gloucester, Corey Mylchreest as Edmund, Hughie O’Donnell as Cornwall, Caleb Obediah as Cornwall and Jessica Revell as Cordelia / The Fool.

The production has set and costume design by Jon Bausor, associate direction by Lucy Skilbeck, projection design by Nina Dunn, lighting design by Paul Keogan, sound design by and composition by Ben and Max Ringham, choreography by Aletta Collins, casting by Lucy Bevan CDG and Emily Brockmann, fight direction by Bret Yount, assistant directors bys Issy Snape and Michael Rouse and production manager Jim Leaver.
