42nd Street The Musical coming to cinemas – dates, venues and tickets

A filming of 42nd Street The Musical on London’s West End will be broadcast on cinemas across the UK this autumn.

Filmed live at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in the heart of London’s West End, 42nd Street tells the story of Peggy Sawyer, a talented young performer with stars in her eyes who gets her big break on Broadway.

The cast for the film includes Emmerdale’s Tom Lister as Julian Marsh, Philip Bertioli as Billy Lawlor, Clare Halse as Peggy Sawyer and Bonnie Langford as Dorothy Brock.

Featuring a 60-strong cast, the screening will air at over 500 cinemas across the UK from November 10, 2019.

42nd Street is based on the 1930s novel and film of the same name and made its premiere on Broadway in 1980 before first running at the West End in 1984. The musical was revived in the West End in London in 2017, running for almost two years before closing in January 2019.

The stage adaption has a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble with music & lyrics from Harry Warren and Al Dubin, featuring the iconic songs 42nd Street, We’re In The Money, Lullaby Of Broadway, Shuffle Off To Buffalo, Dames and I Only Have Eyes For You.

The 2017 West End revival received three Laurence Olivier Awards nominatios, including Best Musical Revival while the original 1984 production won the Olivier for Best New Musical.
