Upcoming musical proshots waiting to be released
With more and more musical proshots being filmed, here’s a run-down of all the upcoming recordings waiting to be released.
Six The Musical
A proshot of Six The Musical was filmed in 2022 featuring the original West End cast.
Jarnéia Richard-Noel, Millie O’Connell, Natalie Paris, Alexia McIntosh, Aimie Atkinson and Maiya Quansah-Breed all returned to their roles for recording at the Vaudeville Theatre.
Frozen The Musical
The current West End production of Frozen is rumoured to have been filmed for release on Disney+. The proshot featured Samantha Barks as Elsa alongside Laura Dawkes as Anna.
For now, you can catch Frozen The Musical in its final months in London.
The Little Big Things
A proshot of hit new British musical The Little Big Things, based on the best-selling memoir by Henry Fraser, with a book by Joe White, was filmed in February.
We understand the recording was carried out by the National Theatre Live for future public release.
Most National Theatre Live recordings make their way to cinemas and online via NT at Home.
Aladdin
A performance of Disney’s Aladdin musical was recorded way back in 2019 in London, shortly before the show played its final performance in the West End.
The filmed show featured Ainsley Melham in the title role with Trevor Dion Nicholas as Genie, Isabelle McCalla as Jasmine.
The show is expected to be released on Disney+.
Bonnie & Clyde
A proshot of Bonnie & Clyde The Musical was filmed during its West End concert in 2022.
Starring Broadway sensation Jeremy Jordan alongside rising West End star Frances Mayli McCann, the production took place at the Theatre Royal Drury.
Girl From the North Country
The Broadway production of Conor McPherson and Bob Dylan’s Girl From the North Country musical was captured on stage in 2022.
The cast featured Todd Almond, Colin Bates, Jeannette Bayardelle, Craig Bierko, Jennifer Blood, Matthew Frederick Harris, Caitlin Houlahan, Robert Joy, Luba Mason, Ben Mayne, Matt McGrath, Tom Nelis, Jay O. Sanders, John Schiappa, Austin Scott, Housso Semon, Kimber Elayne Sprawl, Rachel Stern, Chiara Trentalange, Bob Walton, Aidan Wharton, Chelsea Lee Williams and Mare Winningham.
Producers Tristan Baker and Charlie Parsons said: “We feel that now was the right time to capture this incredible production. This was the right time with the right cast, and everything fell into place perfectly.”
Waitress
While Waitress The Musical is available to watch in North America, we’re still waiting for the show elsewhere in the world.
Sara Bareilles, the composer of the musical’s score, starred as Jenna Hunterson in a live Broadway performance captured on film.
The filmed version was released in select US cinemas from 7 December before being made available to buy digitally at home.
