Writers Jack Godfrey and Martha Geelan said: “We feel very proud and excited to be part of the impressive wave of new musicals in the West End this year. ‘Babies’ is about what it is to be young right now, what it is to be questioning the future, how it feels to try and get everything right.

“We hope it speaks to audiences of all ages; all lived experiences. We hope there’s something in there for everyone.”

The full creative team includes Joe Beighton (Orchestrations, Vocal Arrangements & Music Supervisor), Alexzandra Sarmiento (Choreographer), Jasmine Swan (Set & Costume Designer), Paul Gatehouse (Sound Designer), Will Hayman (Lighting Designer), Lauren Hopkinson (Musical Director) Harry Blumenau CGD CDA (Casting), Molly Stacey (Associate Director), Martyn Sands (Production Manager) and Sarah Booth (Props & Costume Supervisor).

Summer is over. Exams are looming. But Year 11 are only talking about one thing: babies. Not real ones…but the plastic simulator dolls they’ve been tasked with looking after for a whole entire week.

With a blistering pop-rock score, this new(born) British musical follows nine students as they discover that becoming a parent means changing more than just nappies. Friendships are tested, dreams are questioned, and the true meaning of responsibility rears its terrifying head.

Babies originally started in 2021 with the song Hot Dad which won the British Youth Music Theatre New Music Theatre Award, leading to an initial run of the show at the New Wolseley Theatre in Ipswich. This new production follows hot on the heels of a sell-out concert series in November 2023 at the Lyric Theatre in the West End.
