A musical film based on Lady Macbeth is in the works

A musical film based on the Shakespeare character Lady Macbeth is in the works.

Amazon Studios has picked up the movie, which has producers including Scooter Braun and Channing Tatum.

John McPhail (Anna and the Apocalypse) is attached to direct with a screenplay by S.J. Inwards, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The untitled film currently has no name, cast or release date and even the plot is being kept secret.

It’s claimed that the movie will focus on a teenage girl who faces “the dreadful consequences of her ambition”.

Shakespeare’s Macbeth tells the story of a Scottish general who, with help and encouragement by his wife Lady Macbeth, kills the king and takes his place.
