Adam Lambert is writing a ’70s rock and roll’ stage musical

Adam Lambert has revealed he’s writing a stage musical.

The singer is working on a project based around “the life story of an actual person” set in the 1970s.

Although precise details are to be revealed, Lambert shared this week: “With this musical I got paired up with amazing songwriters so I’m approaching it sort of like a pop album, but it’s still a musical.

“And I can’t say too much right now because we haven’t really announced what it is or how it’s going to be, but I’m collaborating with some great people, I can tell you that.”

He told NovaFM’s Brenda, Call Me! podcast with Courtney Act and Vanity: “It definitely is rock and roll, though! Musically it’s pretty diverse, but it’s the life story of an actual person and it’s not me!

“And the majority of the story takes place in the 70s.”

Lambert first revealed he was working on the project on ITV’s Lorraine in 2020

He told host Lorraine Kelly: “I’m actually out here in London writing a musical. That’s really fun.”

Lambert kept quiet when it came to exact details about the project, simply teasing: “I’m keeping it under wraps right now but soon, you’ll hear more soon!”

Lambert is no stranger to musical theatre having performed in a raft of shows including Wicked and The Ten Commandments: The Musical.

The talented singer, songwriter and actor first rose to fame as runner up on American Idol in 2009 and has gone on to sell over 3 million albums across the globe.

Together with his solo career, Lambert has been performing as lead vocalist with Queen since 2011.

The group recently released their brand new 2020 album Live Around The World.
