Ain’t Too Proud musical announces final West End performance date

Tony Award-Winning Musical Ain’t Too Proud has announced its final performance in the West End.

The show will bid farewell to the Prince Edward Theatre stage on Sunday, 17 September 2023, concluding its limited run earlier than initially planned.

Featuring an exceptional cast led by Cameron Bernard Jones as Melvin Franklin, Kyle Cox as Paul Williams, Sifiso Mazibuko as Otis Williams, Tosh Wanogho-Maud as David Ruffin, and Mitchell Zhangazha as Eddie Kendricks, Ain’t Too Proud has enthralled audiences with its incredible performances and soulful tunes.

This exhilarating musical follows the remarkable journey of The Temptations, taking audiences from the streets of Detroit to their well-deserved spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. With iconic dance moves and unmistakable harmonies, The Temptations dominated the charts, delivering a staggering 42 Top Ten Hits with 14 reaching the number one spot.

The creative genius behind Ain’t Too Proud includes the Kennedy Prize-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau, who penned the book, and the two-time Tony Award-winning director Des McAnuff, who joins forces with Tony and Olivier Award-winning choreographer Sergio Trujilio. Together, they have brought to life the captivating tale of The Temptations, drawing audiences into the world of this iconic group through music and dance.

The production features an outstanding team of Tony Award-nominated scenic designer Robert Brill, Tony Award-winning costume designer Paul Tazewell, and Tony Award-winning lighting designer Howell Binkley. The mesmerizing sound design is the result of the collaboration between Tony Award-winning sound designer Steve Canyon Kennedy and Drama Desk Award winner Peter Nigrini for projection design. Hair and wig design are masterfully crafted by Charles G. LaPointe, while Kenny Seymour oversees music supervision and arrangements. The show’s stunning orchestrations are the work of Drama Desk Award winner Harold Wheeler, with music direction by Matt Smith, and casting by Pippa Ailion CDG and Natalie Gallacher CDG.
