Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Bad Cinderella musical to close on Broadway after 85 performances

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella musical has announced a closing date on Broadway.

After the original West End production closed last year, the show transferred to the Imperial Theatre in New York.

Renamed Bad Cinderella, it began previews at the Imperial Theatre on 17 February ahead of an opening on 23 March.

Now it’s closing date has been set for 4 June after 85 performances and 33 previews.

Following on from the recent closure of The Phantom of the Opera, it means Broadway will be without a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber for the first time in more than 40 years.

The musical maestro’s hit productions in New York have also included Evita and Cats.

For now, tickets for the dates for the final performances of Bad Cinderella are on sale now.

Linedy Genao currently features in the title role of the Broadway production.

The London production, which opened in August 2021 after numerous delays due to the pandemic, played its final performance on 12 June.

Teased as a new, modern spin on the all time classic fairytale, Bad Cinderella features music from Lloyd Webber with lyrics by David Zippel and an original story and book by Emerald Fennel.

The production will be directed by Laurence Connor with choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter.

An original studio cast album was released last summer on digital services as well as on CD and Vinyl.
