Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella set to open on Broadway in 2023

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella musical is heading for Broadway in 2023!

Following news that the West End production will close in June, Lloyd Webber has revealed plans to bring the show to New York next Spring.

The London production, which opened in August 2021 after numerous delays due to the pandemic, will play its final performance on 12 June.

A new Broadway production is set to begin previews in February 2023 with a March opening.

In a statement to The Stage, Lloyd Webber said: “I am really excited to get to work putting together a new production with [production company] No Guarantees for Broadway.

“Thank you very much to everyone involved, particularly our UK audiences who have loved and supported the show. See you next March on Broadway.”

Theatre details and casting for the Broadway production are to be announced.

Teased as a new, modern spin on the all time classic fairytale, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella features music from Lloyd Webber with lyrics by David Zippel and an original story and book by Emerald Fennel.

Carrie Hope Fletcher originated the title role of Cinderella in the West End production with Victoria Hamilton-Barritt in the role of the Stepmother with Ivano Turco playing Prince Sebastian, brother to Prince Charming.

An original studio cast album was released last summer on digital services as well as on CD and Vinyl.

For now, you can take a first look at the show below…
