In the story, Edgar is taken in by the town veterinarian, Dr. Parker and eventually becomes accepted as a member of the family by Dr. Parker’s wife, Meredith and their teenage daughter, Shelley. However, secrets about his shocking origins threaten to turn the town against him.

Set against a backdrop of a small town plagued by prejudice, the dark comedy delves into themes of fear, acceptance and the consequences of othering, challenging the notion of what it means to be “normal.”

The producers, Chris Steward and Shanay Holmes, along with director Dean Johnson (Once, BKLYN), promise a dark and truthful reimagining of the musical, with more cast and creatives to be announced. This new rendition of Bat Boy: The Musical is bound to become a thrilling obsession for musical fans and a bloody brilliant way to celebrate Halloween.
