Behind the scenes of new musical La Bamba! with Siva Kaneswaran
A first look at the music for the world premiere of new jukebox musical La Bamba! has been revealed!
The musical will open at Curve in Leicester on 1 August 2023, before heading to London’s Peacock Theatre, Sadler’s Wells West End theatre, for a limited season from 22 August – 2 September 2023. La Bamba! will continue its UK tour until December 2023.
The explosive new musical stars Strictly Come Dancing champion Pasha Kovalev, The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran, and rising star Inês Fernandez. It features an electric soundtrack of Latin pop anthems, including songs by Ricky Martin, Shakira, Marc Anthony, Becky G, Camilla Cabello, J-Lo, and many more.
Siva Kaneswaran will play the role of Mateo, joining Pasha Kovalev as Ricardo and Inês Fernandez as Sofia. The story follows Sofia’s journey from a small-town girl in Los Angeles to stardom, inspired by her father handing her a guitar. With the support of her family and best friend Mateo, Sofia discovers that talent may make you a star, but fate can make you a legend.
Written by Paul Morrissey, directed by Ray Roderick, and featuring choreography by Graziano Di Prima, Erica Da Silva, and Giada Lini, the musical includes a diverse range of Latin music, from traditional folk songs to recent chart-toppers, arranged by musical maestro Alfonso Casado-Trigo.
La Bamba! promises to be a vibrant fiesta about passion, pride, and the power of taking that first step on a journey. Tickets are on sale now for this highly anticipated musical experience.
