Ben Stiller ‘in talks to star in stage adaptation of The Shining in the West End’
Ben Stiller is reportedly in talks to appear in a stage adaptation of Stephen King’s The Shining.
The iconic novel is set to be brought to the stage by director Ivo van Hove, behind the recent West Side Story Broadway revival.
The production is apparently aiming for a West End premiere in 2023 with rumours of a Broadway run after London.
According to Deadline, Ben Stiller is in talks to lead the cast in the role of Jack Torrance.
Simon Stephens is set to adapt the novel – which was also turned into a hit film starring Jack Nicholson – for the stage.
It’s understood work on the adaption first began in 2017 before being halted due to the pandemic.
It’s said the plot of the stage show will follow that of the book more than the film, telling the story of a struggling writer and recovering alcoholic who is plagued by psychic premonitions while working as a caretaker at an isolated hotel.
For now we await further details – watch this space!
