Britney Spears musical to close on Broadway after 123 performances
The new jukebox musical based on the songs of Britney Spears is to close on Broadway.
The Once Upon a One More Time musical offers up a spin on the characters from Brothers Grimm’s fairytales.
Following a try out in Washington in 2021, the show opened at the Marquis Theatre in June.
It will play its final performance on Sunday, 3 September after 123 shows.
Every fortnight, when our storybook heroines gather for book club, they always discuss the same book, Grimm’s Fairy Tales — because as far as they know, it’s the only book that’s ever been written.
That’s when a rogue fairy godmother drops The Feminine Mystique into their corseted laps. From now on, ‘happily ever after’ will never be the same. It’s the ultimate revisionist fairy tale that’ll make you feel stronger than yesterday.
The musical features Britney Spears’ hit songs including “Stronger”, “Oops I Did It Again”, “Lucky”, “Circus” and “Toxic”.
Those on the cast include Briga Heelan, Justin Guarini, Jennifer Simard, Adam Godley, Brooke Dillman, Aisha Jackson, Ryann Redmond, Tess Soltau, Ashley Chiu, Gabrielle Beckford, Nathan Levy, Ryan Steele, Joshua Daniel Johnson, Kevin Trinio Perdido, Mikey Ruiz, Josh Tolle, Stephen Scott Wormley, Morgan Whitley, Lauren Zakrin, Liv Battista, Pauline Casiño, Selene Haro, Amy Hillner Larsen and Justice Moore.
Keone and Mari Madrid direct and choreograph the production, with creative consultancy by David Leveaux, costume and hair design by Loren Elstein, scenic design by Anna Fleischle, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Andrew Keister, production design by Sven Ortel, wig design by Ashley Rae Callahan and casting by Hardt Casting.
