Broadway stars honour Stephen Sondheim with performance of Sunday
Broadway stars honoured the legacy of Stephen Sondheim in New York on Sunday.
Members from across the theatre community and industry got together to perform Sunday from Sonheim’s iconic Sunday in the Park with George in the heart of Times Square.
Just some of those appearing included Lin-Manuel Miranda, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Sara Bareilles, Raúl Esparza, Stephen Schwartz, Laura Benanti, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Josh Groban, Erich Bergen, Lonny Price, Jim Walton, Tom Kitt, Reeve Carney, Eva Noblezada, Marc Shaiman, Lauren Patten, Samantha Massell, Kathryn Gallagher, Abby Mueller, Judy Kuhn and Brandon Uranowitz.

Musical theatre legend Sondheim passed away last Friday. He was 91.
His acclaimed works, which included Company, Follies, Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods, West Side Story and Gypsy, won him a total of nine Tony Awards, eight Grammy Awards, an Oscar, Olivier and Pulitzer Prize.
Lights across London’s West End will be dimmed in memory of Sondheim tonight (Monday, 29 November) at 7PM.

His legacy of extraordinary shows and songs will live on for many generations to come – but now, we pay tribute to his outstanding contribution to our theatres and celebrate his talent.”
