Cable Street casting announced for Southwark Playhouse Elephant

Cable Street Cast Headshots

The cast of the critically acclaimed British musical Cable Street has been announced as it prepares for an exciting run at the Southwark Playhouse Elephant this autumn.

Kicking off on Friday 6 September and running until Thursday 10 October 2024, this new production will feature several of the original cast members.

Among them are Danny Colligan, Sha Dessi, and Joshua Ginsberg, reprising their roles as Ron, Mairead, and Sammy, three friends navigating life in the multicultural melting pot of Cable Street in 1936.

Joining the ensemble are Davina Moon, known for her West End performances in Life of Pi, Bombay Dreams, and Miss Saigon, and Mia Overfield, making her London debut after notable performances in Demon Dentist and Jack & The Beanstalk.

Returning to the show are Max Alexander-Taylor, Aiofe Mac Namara, Ethan Pascal Peters, and Jez Unwin, completing the talented lineup.

The world premiere of Cable Street at the Southwark Playhouse Borough earlier this year was a sold-out success, and anticipation is high for this limited 42-performance run.

Cable Street is an electrifying reimagining of the Battle of Cable Street, a historic day on 4 October 1936 when London’s East End community united against Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists.

The musical celebrates this powerful moment of solidarity, as over a hundred thousand Jews, Irish workers, trade unionists, and other groups came together to blockade Cable Street and stand against hatred.

As the people raise their voices with cries of “They Shall Not Pass,” they take a united stand against hatred, changing the lives of the street’s residents forever.
