Cast and creatives announced for Lucinda Coyle’s Our Last First at The Space

Casting and creatives have been announced for the return of Lucinda Coyle’s acclaimed play Our Last First.

Bullet Point Theatre will bring the show to The Space on the Isle of Dogs, London from 6 – 14 June following a sold out run at London’s Union Theatre in 2021.

The production will also be available to watch via livestream from 8 – 14 June.

In their first production in London, Bullet Point Theatre has also announced they have received support from Sir Ian McKellen, Ambassador Theatre Group and Sean Mathias through the Ian McKellen on Stage Production Grant scheme. McKellen is also the principal patron of The Space.

Meet A & B. Watch as they go through the first & lasts of their (and everyone universally) relationship. With Friend and Sibling editing and affecting their journey.

Written without any pronouns, genders, names, ages, or physical description Our Last First is designed to be played by any and every actor. For the upcoming production the performers will enter the stage and be cast live into their roles for the performance. This arrangement allows the play to have a wide array of combinations and topics such as a couple dealing with societies views of same sex marriage, another on the rights of trans love, and love across different cultural backgrounds.

Making up the cast are Beca Barton, Joshua Eldridge-Smith, Annie Loftus and Eoin Quinlan.

Directed by Samuel Xavier, the production has stage management by Vanshika Rajeev, design by Lucy Sneddon, sound design by Jack Baxter and lighting design by Adam Jeffreys with intimacy co-ordinator Katharine Hardman, assistant director Pooja Sivaraman and oroduction assistant Amelie Peters.

Lucinda Coyle said: “Our Last First is more than just a play. It is proof that more needs to be done in our industry to cast based on talent than looks. It is giving a platform for so many beautiful and unique love stories to be shared. Though we are moving in the industry, and more queer, more unique love stories are being told, still more needs to be shown. Audiences are out there wanting to be surprised, and educated and Our Last First is really a love letter to those actors and those audience members who want to be seen, want to be heard and want to be celebrated.

“I am beyond thrilled that Our Last First is returning to London, not even 2 years after its premier at The Union, and to have the support of Ian McKellen, Sean Mathias, and ATG with the Ian McKellen Production Grant is just incredible, and beyond my wildest dreams. The support they have shown the play solidifies my belief that plays like this must be created, and I look forward to seeing where the journey leads.”
