Cast confirmed for Nativity! The Musical at Birmingham Rep this Christmas

Casting has been revealed for Nativity! The Musical at Birmingham Rep.

Based on the hit Christmas film starring Martin Freeman, Nativity! The Musical is written by Debbie Isitt, the director of the movie, with music and lyrics by Nicky Ager and Isitt.

The hit stage adaptation will return to Birmingham Rep, where it first premiered in 2017, from 19 November 2022 – 7 January 2023

On the cast will be Ben Lancaster as Mr Poppy, Billy Roberts as Mr Maddens, Daisy Steere as Jennifer, Jemma Churchill as Mrs Bevan and Matthew Rowland as Mr Shakespeare.

They’re joined by Tom Hext as Mr Rye & Ensemble, Jamie Chapman as Patrick Burns & Ensemble, Ralph Bogard as Lord Mayor & Ensemble, Cameron Johnson as Hollywood Boss & Ensemble and Eliza Waters as TJ’s Mum & On-Stage Swing.

Completing the cast are on-stage swings Callum Train, Sydney Isitt-Ager and Louie Wood.

Every child in every school has one Christmas wish, to star in a Nativity, and at St Bernadette’s School they’re attempting to mount a musical version! Only trouble is teacher Mr Maddens has promised that a Hollywood producer is coming to see the show to turn it into a film.

Join him, his teaching assistant the crazy Mr Poppy, hilarious children and a whole lot of sparkle and shine as they struggle to make everyone’s Christmas wish come true.

The 2022 production has new choreography by Rebecca Louis, design by David Woodhead, lighting design by Tim Mitchell, sound design by Tom Marshall and musical supervision and orchestrations by George Dyer.

They’re joined on the creative team by associate director David Hulston, associate lighting designer Alex Boucher, musical director Josh Griffith, associate sound designer Callum Wills, casting directors Keston & Keston – Emily & LJ, casting director Debbie O’Brien, production manager Chris Hay, costume supervisor Kay Wilton and assistant director Alice Chambers.
