Watch cast of the musical SIX perform Don’t Lose Ur Head live
The cast of the West End musical SIX performed on BBC One’s The One Show this week.
Nominated for five Olivier Awards, SIX turns Tudor queens into pop princesses as 500 years of historical heartbreak becomes an hour of 21st century sass.
The Queens took to our TV screens on BBC One to showcase a track from their official cast recording.
They gave an exclusive first TV performance of Don’t Lose Ur Head – which you can watch below.
The current cast of Six features Jarneia Richard-Noel as Catherine of Aragon; Millie O’Connell as Anne Boleyn; Natalie Paris as Jane Seymour; Alexia McIntosh as Anna of Cleves; Aimie Atkinson as Katherine Howard and Maiya Quansah-Breed as Catherine Parr.
They’re joined by ‘Ladies in Waiting’, Swing and Dance Captain Grace Mouat; Alternate Anne Boleyn and Anna of Cleves Vicki Manser; and Courtney Stapleton, Alternate Catherine of Aragon and Catherine Parr.
Appearing alongside the cast on The One Show were writers Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss.
They explained the concept behind the musical: “The show is the six wives of Henry The VIII but they’re a girl group and they perform a pop concert for the audience.
“The show takes the form of the competition to see who is going to be the leading lady of the group. They decide the criteria for judging that is who had the worst time.”
As a result of their television appearance, the performance of SIX was pushed back to 8:30PM.
A statement posted to Instagram read: “We are delighted to announce that our outstanding Queens and Ladies in Waiting have been asked to perform on The One Show this Tuesday!
“To make sure we are able to give our incredible audience the show that they deserve (and so the Queens have enough time to run down Regent’s Street!), Tuesday’s performance will now begin at 8.30pm.
“Our audiences are always so incredibly supportive of this wonderful show and we want to send all our love and thanks to the Queendom for their understanding.
“We hope sharing SIX in this way will mean that more people can experience the pure joy that this show produces night after night for its phenomenal audiences!”
The musical is currently playing at the Arts Theatre through to January 2020.
