Cast revealed for & Juliet musical’s North American premiere
Hit West End musical & Juliet will debut in North America this summer with casting revealed.
In its first production outside the UK, the jukebox musical will run at Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theatre.
Aiming for Broadway, the show will play from 22 June to 14 August 2022.
The cast will be led by Lorna Courtney in the title role with, Paulo Szot as Lance, Betsy Wolfe as Anne Hathaway, Stark Sands as Shakespeare, Justin David Sullivan as May, Ben Jackson Walker as Romeo and Philippe Arroyo as Francois.
Original West End cast member Melanie La Barrie will reprise her role as Nurse.
Making up the ensemble are Brandon Antonio, Nico De Jesus, Nicholas Edwards, Katy Geraghty, Virgil Gadson, Bobby Horner, Joomin Hwang, Michael Iván Carrier, Alaina Vi T.Maderal, Daniel J. Maldonado, Joe Moeller, Brittany Nicholas, Veronica Otim, Jasmine Rafael, Matt Raffy, Tiernan Tunnicliffe and Rachel Webb.
& Juliet opened in the West End in November 2019 and has proved a huge hit.
The musical retells the iconic Shakespeare tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by asking: what if Juliet’s famous ending was really just her beginning?
It features a collection of huge pop songs written by Max Martin including Break Free (Ariana Grande), …Baby One More Time (Britney Spears), Teenage Dream (Katy Perry) Everybody (Backstreet Boys), Can’t Feel My Face (The Weeknd) and It’s My Life (Bon Jovi).
Luke Sheppard directs both the West End and new Toronto production, with potential Broadway plans to be revealed.
