Disney’s The Lion King cast announced for UK and Ireland tour

Disney’s The Lion King has announced the full cast for the upcoming UK and Ireland tour.

The 2021/2022 tour of Disney’s The Lion King will celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary since premiering in London.

Based on the all-time classic animated film, The Lion King is set against the majesty of the Serengeti Plains to the evocative rhythms of Africa. Exploding with glorious colours, stunning effects and enchanting music, it tells the timeless story of Simba and his epic journey to fulfil his destiny as King of the Pridelands.

The Lion King UK and Ireland tour cast will welcome actors from Belgium, Brazil, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dominican Republic, Ireland, France, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Nigeria, Saint Martin, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom and United States of America.

Stephenson Ardern-Sodje will play Simba, Nokwanda Khuzwayo will take on the role of Nala and Thandazile Soni will play Rafiki.

Alan Mchale will play Timon, Carl Sanderson will play Pumbaa, Matthew Forbes will play Zazu, Jean-Luc Guizonne will play Mufasa, Owain Rhys Davies will play Ed, Rebecca Omogbehin will play Shenzi, Simon Trinder will play Banzai and Richard Hurst will play Scar.

Completing the cast are: Lwando Bam, Mamido Bomboko Souchu, Khanyisani Beato, Jorell Coiffic-Kamall, Rushand Chambers, Tau-En Chien, Elisa Chou, Tevin Daniel, Tim Driesen, Oraine Frater, Adebunmi Gabriel, Brian Gilligan, Daniel Griffith, Alicia Hayward, Zalika Henry, Caleaf Henson, Olivia Jones, Melvin Le Blanc, Jochebel Maccarthy, Zanele Mazibuko, Fallon Mondlane, Zanele Ndlovu, Buhle Nkomo, Craig Pedro, Joaquin Pedro Valdes, Connor Pelé Williams, Tara Price, Kyle Richardson, Cristiane Santos De Jesus, Lukin Simmonds, Sherry Tay, Francesca Thompson, Maria Yim and Bukiwe Zinganto.

Following a pause due to the pandemic, the tour is currently scheduled to resume performances in Dublin in December. It will then move to Bristol next year in February before stops in Bradford, Cardiff, Southampton and Manchester.
