A first look at Stranger Things stage show The First Shadow has been revealed!
Netflix and Sonia Friedman Productions have teamed up to present the captivating new play, written by Kate Trefry.
Based on the widely acclaimed Netflix series Stranger Things created by the Duffer Brothers, the show is currently in previews at Phoenix Theatre and is set to officially open on 14 December.
Stranger Things: The First Shadow, set in Hawkins in 1959, explores a seemingly regular town with everyday concerns. The plot centres around young Jim Hopper, whose car problems are the least of his worries, Bob Newby’s struggle with his sister over his radio show, and Joyce Maldonado’s determination to graduate and leave Hawkins.
The arrival of new student Henry Creel introduces a challenging dynamic, revealing that escaping the past and starting anew can be fraught with difficulties.
The play promises to be an immersive experience, crafted by a multi-award-winning creative team known for their innovative approach to theatrical storytelling and stagecraft. Audiences are invited to delve into this new adventure that not only revisits the origins of the Stranger Things narrative but might also offer clues to its conclusion.
Stranger Things: The First Shadow is directed by Stephen Daldry, with Justin Martin as co-director. The creative team includes set designer Miriam Buether, costume designer Brigitte Reiffenstuel, and lighting designer Jon Clark, among others.

The production features original music by D.J. Walde, illusion and visual effects by Jamie Harrison & Chris Fisher, and choreography by Coral Messam. The Duffer Brothers serve as creative producers, with 21 Laps Entertainment as associate producer.
