First look: Kinky Boots regional premiere at New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich and Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch
A first look at the upcoming UK revival of Kinky Boots has been revealed.
The New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich and Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch will co-present the regional premiere of the Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical Kinky Boots this autumn.
Tim Jackson will direct the new production which opens at New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich from 1 – 24 September before transferring to Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch from 28 September – 22 October.
Leading the cast will be Matt Corner as Charlie, Keanu Adolphus Johnson as Lola and Aruhan Galieva as Lauren.
They’ll be joined by Jay Anderson as Angel, Will Arundell as Harry/Bailey/Onstage Musical Director, Josephine Lloyd-Welcome as Georgie, George Lynham as Angel, Roddy Lynch as Don, Cavan Malone as Angel, Tim Parker as Mr Price, Anna Soden as Nicola, Lucy Elizabeth Thorburn as Pat and Hiromi Toyooka as Angel.
Charlie Price has reluctantly inherited a struggling shoe business from his dad, which he’s desperate to save. He unexpectedly bumps into a larger than life drag queen Lola, who’s looking for some sturdy stilettos.
They think they’ve nothing in common, but as the unlikely pair ruffle a few feathers, designing some fabulous footwear for the factory floor, perhaps they do…
The creative team for the new production is Daniel Denton as video designer, Tony Gayle as sound designer, Crystal Hantig as choreographer, Charlie Ingles as musical supervisor & arranger, Tim Jackson as director, Jamie Platt as lighting designer, Amanda Stoodley as set & costume Designer and Molly Wilsher as assistant director.
The musical is based on the film of the same name and features a book by Harvey Fierstein and music & lyrics by Cyndi Lauper.
