From Here to Eternity The Musical revival to open at Charing Cross Theatre

A new production of From Here to Eternity the Musical is to open at the Charing Cross Theatre later this year.

Based on the 1951 novel of the same name, From Here to Eternity features a book by Donald Rice and Bill Oakes with music by Stuart Brayson and lyrics from Sir Tim Rice.

The production held its world premiere in 2013 at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London’s West End.

The show is now set to return to London for a run at the Charing Cross Theatre from 29 October – 17 December.

Set in Pearl Harbor, 1941, where the girls sing “don’cha like Hawaii”, the men of G Company sing the blues, and where even on an army base, love and desire are never very far away.

As war approaches, the worlds of the four lovers and the soldiers of G Company are dramatically ripped apart.

On the cast are Jonny Amies (Maggio), Jonathon Bentley (Prewitt), Desmonda Cathabel (Lorene), Leonard Cook (Judson/Colonel Delbert/cover Holmes), Kyerron Dixon-Bassey (Swing), Sarah Drake (Female U/S Lorene & Mrs Kipfer), Dominic Adam Griffin (Soldier/cover Warden & Bloom), Cassius Hackforth (Soldier), Robin Hayward (Soldier/cover Prewitt), Callum Henderson (Soldier/cover Judson & Colonel Delbert), James Mateo-Salt (Soldier/cover Galovitch), Rhys Nuttall (Galovitch), Jack Ofrecio (Bloom), Jaden Oshenye (Soldier), Eve Polycarpou (Mrs Kipfer), Adam Rhys-Charles (Warden), Carley Stenson (Karen), Alan Turkington (Holmes) and Joseph Vella (Soldier/cover Maggio).

The new production is directed by Brett Smock with musical director and orchestrator Nick Barstow, set and costume designer Stewart Charlesworth, sound designer Andrew Johnson, choreographer Cressida Carré, production coordinator Ollie Hancock and casting director Jane Deitch. Aria Entertainment, Bill Kenwright and Heartaches Limited are producers.

Director Brett Smock said: “After extensive development work on From Here To Eternity in the US at The REV Theatre Company in New York and The Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine, we are thrilled to join forces with UK producer Katy Lipson/Aria Entertainment to present a powerful new production designed specifically for the intimacy of Charing Cross Theatre.

“Framed by a world on the brink of war, at a time when we are losing the last of the ‘Greatest Generation’, and with the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor just last year, it feels timely to revisit this fascinating series of events.”
