Funny Girl Broadway revival to star Beanie Feldstein, Ramin Karimloo and Jane Lynch

Beanie Feldstein, Ramin Karimloo and Jane Lynch will star in the upcoming Broadway revival of Funny Girl.

The new production will open on 26 March 2022 at the August Wilson Theatre in New York.

Beanie Feldstein stars as Fanny Brice with Ramin Karimloo as Nick Arnstein, Jane Lynch as Rosie Brice and Jared Grimes as Eddie Ryan.

They will be joined by Peter Francis James as Florenz Ziegfeld, Ephie Aardema as Emma/Mrs. Nadler, Debra Cardona as Mrs. Meeker, Toni DiBuono as Mrs. Strakosh, Martin Moran as Tom Keeney, and Julie Benko as the standby for Fanny Brice.

Completing the company are Amber Ardolino, Daniel Beeman, Colin Bradbury, Kurt Thomas Csolak, Leslie Donna Flesner, Afra Hines, Masumi Iwai, Aliah James, Jeremiah James, Danielle Kelsey, Stephen Mark Lukas, Alicia Hadiya Lundgren, John Thomas Manzari, Liz McCartney, Katie Mitchell, Justin Prescott, Mariah Reives and Leslie Blake Walker.

Michael Mayer directs with choreography from Ellenore Scott, tap choreography by Ayodele Casel and scenic design by David Zinn.

Harvey Fierstein is penning an updated book for the show which has music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Bob Merrill and an original book by Isobel Lennart.

Feldstein said: “The first time I played Fanny Brice was at my third birthday party, in a head-to-toe leopard print outfit my mum made for me. So, it’s safe to say that stepping into this iconic role, on Broadway and not in my family’s backyard, is truly my lifelong dream come true. I am immensely grateful to be able to do so alongside such a remarkable creative team, and cannot wait for audiences to get back in theaters again!”

Karimloo said: “I’m very excited to be joining Funny Girl’s return to Broadway. I’ve been waiting 2 years to sink my teeth into Nicky Arnstein and get into the room with Michael Mayer, the creative team and cast, led by the exceptional Beanie Feldstein. Cannot wait.”

Lynch added: “I grew up to the Broadway cast album of Funny Girl. My mother and I knew every breath of that record and would sing it together at the top of our lungs. I am thrilled beyond words to be playing Fanny’s mother on Broadway. And somewhere in Heaven my Mom is asking, ‘Who taught her everything she knows?'”
