Houdini musical in development with Ramin Karimloo and Laura Osnes

A new musical based on the life of Harry Houdini is currently in development.

Titled simply Houdini, the piece recently held a virtual development reading with hopes of a Broadway or West End run.

The reading featured Ramin Karimloo in the title role with Laura Osnes as his wife, Bess Houdini.

Federico Bellone is directing with Karl Sydow producing.

Director Federico Bellone said: “This reading has been an astonishing dream, especially for the period we’re living in right now.

“The creative collaboration gave us a definitive idea about how to bring this show to life on stage, presenting to our audience both the spectacular of Houdini’s Magic and the strong emotional arc of the characters.”

Houdini is set during the last show of the illusionist’s life as his life story is told through a series of flashbacks.
