How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical UK tour first casting announced

Cast for How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical’s upcoming productions in Cardiff and Salford has been confirmed.

A musical stage adaption of the classic Dr. Seuss book will tour the UK over the coming months.

It’ll be the UK premiere for the show, which first made its debut in Minneapolis in 1994 and played Broadway in 2006 and 2007.

The UK will play New Wimbledon Theatre (1 – 3 November 2020 – Book tickets), SEC Armadillo, Glasgow (13 – 17 November – Book tickets), Motorpoint Arena Cardiff (20 – 24 November – Book tickets), Edinburgh Festival Theatre (26 November – 1 December – Book tickets), The Alexandra, Birmingham (3 – 8 December – Book tickets) and The Lowry, Salford (10 December – 5 January 2020 – Book tickets).

How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical cast

The cast for Cardiff and Salford has been confirmed as featuring Griff Rhys Jones as Old Max, The X-Factor winner Matt Terry as Young Max and Edward Baker-Duly as The Grinch.

Karen Ascoe will appear as Grandma Who, David Bardsley as Grandpa Who, Alan Pearson as Papa Who with Holly Dale Spencer as play Mama Who.

The full cast will feature Nicola Barney as Annie Who, Nina Bell as Betty Lou, Lydia Bradd as Bugsy, Ana Cardoso as Scallops, Elena Christie as Phyllis, Sophie Leigh-Griffin as Gymslip, Lawrence Guntert as Sporty, Zoe Humphryes as Danny Who, Monifa James as Reno, Sarah-Marie Maxwell as Trixie, Craig Nash as Palm Springs, Jessica Pardoe as Auntie Who, Andrew Pepper as Buzz, Lucy May Pollard as Punky, Callum Train as Timey and Ellen Whitehead as Boo Who. The role of Cindy Lou will be alternated between Isla Gie, Eve Corbishley, Sophie Woods and Bebe Massey.

Casting for other tour dates has yet to be confirmed.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas! follows the grumpy Grinch as he attempts t end Christmas for the residents of the town of Whoville.

The musical adaption features a book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music from Mel Marvin.

The UK production will feature set design from John Lee Beatty, lighting design from Ben Cracknell, sound design from Richard Brooker, costume design from Robert Morgan and orchestrations from Michael Starobin.
