Wicked trailer

Here’s a look behind the scenes of the upcoming Wicked movie with director Jon M Chu.

“If you want to be inside that world, you have to build it,” he says as the film boss discusses bringing the world of Wicked to life on the screen.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande will star in the movie version of the hit stage musical by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman.

Jon M Chu, the director behind In The Heights, helms this adaptation, which will be released in two parts.

The first Wicked film is set for release on 27 November 2024, with the second part following on 26 November 2025.

The cast includes Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Ethan Slater as Boq, and Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, along with Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, Aaron Teoh as Avaric, and Colin Michael Carmichael.

Based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, Wicked reveals the ‘true untold story’ behind the Wizard of Oz, exploring events before Dorothy’s arrival.

The musical first opened on Broadway in 2003, followed by a West End production in 2006, both of which continue to draw sell-out crowds.
