Into The Woods reveals new Broadway cast – Stephanie J. Block, Krysta Rodriguez, Andy Karl & more
New casting has been revealed for Into The Woods’ ongoing Broadway revival.
The new all star production is currently at the St. James Theatre having transferred from New York City Center’s Encores! series.
From 6 September a whole host of new names will be taking over the iconic roles.
New cast will include Stephanie J. Block as the Baker’s Wife (taking over from Sara Bareilles), Sebastian Arcelus as the Baker (taking over from Brian d’Arcy James) and Krysta Rodriguez as Cinderella (taking over from Phillipa Soo).
Katy Geraghty will play Little Red Ridinghood (taking over from Julia Lester) and Jim Stanek will appear as the Steward (taking over from David Turner).
Also from 6 September, Montego Glover and Patina Miller will share the role of The Witch; Miller will play the role Friday – Sunday with Glover performing Tuesday – Thursday.
Andy Karl will also temporarily join the cast from 6 September to 15 September as Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince, stepping for Gavin Creel due to a prior committent. Creel will then return on 16 September.
Additionally, Ann Harada will return to the role of Jack’s Mother from 27 September, taking over from Aymee Garcia who will play the through to 25 September.
Joshua Henry will continue as Rapunzel’s Prince with the company completed by Ta’Nika Gibson, Annie Golden, Albert Guerzon, Brooke Ishibashi, Kennedy Kanagawa, David Patrick Kelly, Nancy Opel, Cole Thompson, Alysia Velez, Delphi Borich, Felicia Curry, Jason Forbach, Alex Joseph Grayson, Cameron Johnson, Paul Kreppel, Mary Kate Moore, Diane Phelan and Lucia Spina.
This theatrical event, directed by Lear deBessonet (Hercules), will honor the memory of legendary composer Stephen Sondheim and this Broadway masterpiece like never before. But don’t wait until your last midnight! Tickets are going fast—and that’s no fairy tale.
The revival is directed by Lear deBessonet with choreography by Lorin Latarro, music director Rob Berman, orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Andrea Hood, lighting design by Tyler Micoleau, sound design by Scott Lehrer and Alex Neumann, puppet design by James Oritz, hair, wig and make up design by Cookie Jordan.
An official Broadway cast recording was announced earlier this year.
