Kimberly Akimbo musical to open on Broadway this November

Kimberly Akimbo the Musical is to open on Broadway this November.

Based on the 2000 play of the same name by David Lindsay-Abaire, Kimberly Akimbo will open at the Booth Theatre on 10 November following previews from 12 October.

Transferring from Off-Broadway, Lindsay-Abaire pens the book and lyrics with music by Jeanine Tesori.

Kim is a bright and funny Jersey teen, who happens to look like a 72-year-old lady. And yet her aging disease may be the least of her problems.

Forced to maneuver family secrets, borderline personalities, and possible felony charges, Kim is determined to find happiness in a world where not even time is on her side.

The cast will be led by Tony winner Victoria Clark in the title role of Kimberly.

The company is completed by Justin Cooley, Steven Boyer, Alli Mauzey, Bonnie Milligan, Fernell Hogan, Olivia Elease Hardy, Michael Iskander and Nina White.

Directing the production is Jessica Stone with choreographer Danny Mefford, music director Chris Fenwick, orchestrator John Clancy (with additional orchestrations by Macy Schmidt), scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Sarah Laux, lighting designer Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew, sound designer Kai Harada, projection designer Lucy MacKinnon, and wig, hair, and make-up designer J. Jared Janas.
