Kinky Boots concert in West End to star Cedric Neal, Joel Harper-Jackson & Courtney Bowman

Kinky Boots will be performed in concert at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane this August.

The new concert production will play for two nights only on 8 and 9 August.

Cedric Neal (Back To The Future, Motown) will star as Lola/Simon, Joel Harper-Jackson (Cock, Kinky Boots) will play Charlie and Courtney Bowman (Six, Legally Blonde) will play Lauren.

Harper-Jackson, who previously played the role in the UK Tour in 2019, replaces the previously announced Matt Willis due to scheduling conflicts.

They will be joined by Ahmed Hamad as Harry, Daisy Wood-Davis as Nicola, Duane Gooden as George/Simon Snr, Graham Bickley as Mister Price. Hannah Lowther as Gemma Louise, Kayleigh McKnight as Trish, Madison Swan as Marge, Nikki Bentley as Pat and Sean Needham as Don.

Completing the company will be angels Ashley Samuels, Eli Caldwell, Finton Flynn, Jayred Lempriere, Jordan Bennett and Ross Carpenter.

They will be joined by the London Musical Theatre Orchestra to perform the score, written by Cyndi Lauper.

The concert will be directed by Omar F Okai with musical direction by Freddie Tapner, design by Ruth Sutcliffe, lighting by Ben Cracknell, lighting programming by Chris Winn and sound design by Tom Marshall and casting by Harry Blumenau.

Charlie Price has reluctantly inherited his father’s shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father’s legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of the fabulous entertainer Lola, and together they work out what is best for both of them.

With a book by Harvey Fierstein, Kinky Boots first premiered in 2012 in Chicago before opening on Broadway in 2013 where it ran until 2019.

The show opened in London at the Adelphi Theatre in 2015, finishing its run in January 2019 after more than 1,400 performances. A filmed proshot was released in 2019.

The new concert production will be part of a series running this summer alongside Chess and Treason.
