Lin-Manuel Miranda and Andrew Lloyd Webber in piano play off amid theatre closures
Musical theatre superstars Lin-Manuel Miranda and Andrew Lloyd Webber got themselves into a piano play off this week.
With theatres across the world closed, the pair have been sharing back and forth performances on Twitter.
It all started when Lloyd Webber began posting performances of himself at his piano while self-isolating.
Sharing a video playing The Phantom of the Opera’s ‘All I Ask Of You’, Lloyd Webber wrote: “I didn’t think I’d ever get such a response to this little tryout! Here I am in my own self-isolation. The song that came out on top was ‘All I Ask Of You’ – ALW”

Miranda responded: “It’s almost your birthday and you give US gifts. Thanks maestro. (and happy early birthday from NY)”
To which Lloyd Webber replied: “Thanks mega maestro @Lin_Manuel, now it’s your turn. Let’s have a play off?! – ALW”
Miranda took up the challenge, saying: “PLAYOFF ACCEPTED! Here’s “Everything’s Alright” from Jesus Christ Superstar. Your move, @OfficialALW, aka A-L Dubs.”
