Miss Saigon 25th Anniversary West End production to stream on Netflix
The filmed version of Miss Saigon 25th anniversary production will soon be streaming on Netflix.
The production was recorded live on stage at the Prince Edward Theatre, in London’s West End in 2016.
It will be available to stream on Netflix in the UK from 16 November.
The cast of the recording features Lea Salonga, Jonathan Pryce, Jon Jon Briones, Eva Noblezada, Alistair Brammer, Simon Bowman, Kwang-Ho Hong, Tamsin Carroll, Hugh Maynard, Rachelle Ann Go, William Dao and Paul Benedict Sarte.
Miss Saigon is written by Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil with music by Schönberg and lyrics by Boublil and Richard Maltby Jr, based on Giacomo Puccini’s 1904 opera Madame Butterfly.
Set in the last days of the Vietnam War, it tells the story of 17-year-old Kim and her romance with an American solider named Chris who find themselves torn apart by the fall of Saigon.
The production made its debut in the West End in 1989 where it ran for a decade with more than 4,000 performances. A 25th anniversary revival ran from 2014 and 2016. A premiere Broadway production opened in 1991 running to 2001 before a limited revival in 2017. Between them, productions have notched up two Olivier Awards and three Tony Awards.
