Mr. Saturday Night musical with Billy Crystal to stream on BroadwayHD

Fresh from Broadway, new musical Mr. Saturday Night is set to stream online from December.

Adapted from the 1990s movie of the same name, Mr. Saturday Night follows the rise and fall of stand up comedian Buddy Young Jr.

The production recently ran on Broadway starring Billy Crystal as he reprised his role of Buddy from the original film.

A filmed performance of the show will be available to watch online on BroadwayHD from 1 December 2022. The show will be available to stream worldwide.

The new musical version features songs by multi Tony Award winning composer Jason Robert Brown together with Amanda Green (Bring It On, High Fidelity). Original screen writers Crystal, Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel return to write the book.

Also on the cast are Randy Graff, David Paymer, Shoshana Bean, Chasten Harmon, Jordan Gelber, Brian Gonzales and Mylinda Hull.

Billy Crystal stars as Buddy Young, Jr., an outrageous and outspoken comedian who found fame in the early days of television! Now, some 40 years after he hit the top, Buddy will take one last shot at reclaiming the spotlight – and his family – one hilarious step at a time.

Mr. Saturday Night is the brand-new musical comedy about being a funny man, a family man and getting a second chance at both.

The production is directed by John Rando with choreographer Ellenore Scott, scenic design by Scott Pask, costume design by Paul Tazewell & Sky Switser, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Kai Harada, video and pojection design by Jeff Sugg, hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe, music director David O and orchestrations & arrangements by Jason Robert Brown.

The Broadway run opened in April at the Nederlander Theatre where it ran for just over 100 performances until September.

It was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Actor for Crystal.
