Musical Con confirms 2024 return – dates and venue revealed

Musical Con will be back for another event in 2024!

The musical theatre fan convention first took place at the ExCel London in 2022 and returned for another hit event last month.

Organisers have today announced the con will return in 2024 taking place once again at ExCel London on the weekend of 19 – 20 October.

Musical Con is produced by Chris Steward and Shanay Holmes of West End Musical Productions.

Co-producer Shanay said: “This year was really special because the fans knew exactly what to expect and the entire community have taken full ownership of the event and made it their own. Musical Con is our home, it is the place where we belong, and we can’t wait for 2024!”

The 2023 edition of Musical Con expanded its presence at ExCel London, boasting over 100 special guests and a robust 140 hours of programs spread across various stages and interactive areas. This year’s standout moments featured the well-attended opening and closing ceremonies, the entertaining cosplay, lip-sync battles, and the Star Of Musical Con contests.

Attendees were treated to exclusive show spotlights on celebrated productions like The Lion King and Operation Mincemeat, along with Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and Lizzie. Artist spotlights shone on the legendary composer Claude Michel-Schönberg and the esteemed choreographer Dame Arlene Phillips. Noteworthy performances included Rachel Tucker and the cast of the upcoming Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical film, and showcases of new musical works such as The Book Thief and Ride.

The convention was also marked by nostalgic cast reunions from Bat Out Of Hell and Newsies, and a surprise gathering of the Sheffield Crucible’s Miss Saigon ensemble.

Looking ahead, the 2024 convention promises a repeat of its rich programming with live performances, engaging interviews, expert panels, demonstrations, photo ops, signings, an extensive array of workshops and masterclasses, and Theatreland—a haven for interactive experiences and an array of musical theatre businesses.
