Following its recent UK premiere, Next To Normal is officially heading to the West End!
The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical will run from 18 June – 21 September 2024 at the Wyndham’s Theatre. Tickets go on sale Friday 1 December 2023.
The show concluded its run at the Donmar Warehouse in October. The cast included Caissie Levy and Trevor Dion Nicholas alongside Jack Ofrecio, Jamie Parker, Jack Wolfe and Eleanor Worthington-Cox. Casting for the West End transfer is to be confirmed.
Written by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, Next to Normal is an intimate exploration of family and loss. At its heart is Diana Goodman, a suburban wife and mother living with bipolar disorder and haunted by her past.
Donmar Artistic Director Michael Longhurst, who helmed the long-awaited UK premiere, said: “Some stories pierce the heart of the human condition: Tom and Brian’s astonishing musical does just that – facing our deepest vulnerabilities whilst celebrating our capacity to endure.
“The outpouring of emotion from audiences at the Donmar was incredible: you could hear audible sobs before they surged to their feet every single night – like nothing I’ve experienced. Tickets were impossible to come by, so I am beyond thrilled that more people will now be able to experience the work of this extraordinary creative team.”
The production has musical supervision by Nigel Lilley, design by Chloe Lamford, lighting design by Lee Curran, sound design by Tony Gayle, movement direction and choreography by Ann Yee, video design by Tal Rosner, musical direction by Nick Barstow, associate musical direction by Natalie Pound and casting direction by Anna Cooper CDG.
Next To Normal is the winner of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and three Tony Awards including Best Original Score.
