Polka Theatre to premiere new musical re-imagining of Jack and the Beanstalk

Polka Theatre will kick off their 2023 spring season with a new musical re-imagining of the classic Jack and the Beanstalk.

Jack v Giant will run at the London venue from 11 February – 26 March for children ages 4-8 and their families.

Brought enchantingly to life with beautiful puppetry, songs and music, the new adaptation is co-written by Polka’s Artistic Director Peter Glanville and Barb Jungr (The Singing Mermaid), directed by Roman Stefanski (The Night Before Christmas, Sarah and Duck), with original puppetry by Keith Frederick (Peter Pan at Polka) and design by Laura McEwen (The Singing Mermaid, The Everywhere Bear).

The cast joining the creative team are Hannah Akhalu as Jack and Henry Regan as Father.

Join Jack, a brave young girl who embarks on a giant adventure when she sells the family cow in return for magic beans… Come on an unforgettable musical journey from underground gold mines, climbing the beanstalk, to a golden castle in the sky in this exciting re-imagining of the classic fairy tale.

Peter Glanville said: “Polka are delighted to be producing this new musical inspired by the classic Jack and the Beanstalk story. We hope that children and families alike will be entranced by our tale, which takes us beneath the ground to gold mines, through the sky on a beanstalk and into a Giant’s palace in the clouds.”
